Frequently asked questions (F.A.Q.)

Before your massage

1.  I've never had a massage before, what should I choose ?

A Swedish Massage is a good place to start if you have never had a massage before.
You can discuss any queries with our call centre team and later with your massage therapist before she starts the massage. The majority of our therapists are qualified and experienced in many different styles and can perform all of them in one session depending on your needs.

2. May I request a particular therapist ?

Yes, we understand that massage is a very personal treatment and you have to be "connected" to receive the full benefits of the treatment. You can always request for a particular therapist; if the therapist is not able to visit you due to either distance or unavailability, we can always recommend you a therapists with similar qualifications / personality / strength.

3. How much notice do I need to make an appointment ? / How soon could your therapist visit me ?

The TML therapist team is able to reach you in 30 / 45 / 60 and 90 minutes depending on your location. Usually it would take them from 40 to 60 minutes. If you are outside travel zone 3, please allow us at least 60 minutes. Our therapists travel from different locations across London. Most likely there is one who is close to your area and available to visit you on a short notice. We have therapists based in Central London, North, East, West and South.

4. Do you offer sex, sensual / tantric / body to body or "extras" during or after the session ?

NO. The massage we offer is strictly professional and therapeutic. Our massage therapists try their best to improve your health and will feel disrespected if you try to ask for those questions. We do not provide any kind of extras and worst any type of sexual approach. Thank you very much for understanding.

5. Can I speak directly to the therapist before booking or before we meet?

At Therapeutic Massage In London, your safety and comfort are paramount. To ensure a professional and respectful environment for both clients and therapists, we kindly request that all communication and questions be directed to our call centre team. We are fully equipped to address your inquiries promptly and confidentially.

Rest assured that every therapist at Therapeutic Massage In London is a valued member of our family, and we maintain a close working relationship with them. Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are of high importance to us, and we are committed to delivering a professional and respectful massage experience.

Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding.

6. What information do I have to give to book my appointment ?

In order for us to book your appointment, we need your name, mobile phone number or the best number to reach you, address and full postal code. All your personal information is protected in accordance with the UK Data Protection Legislation (the Data Protection Act 1998).

7. How do I pay and when ?

All the payments are done in cash to the therapist at the moment of the massage, that way you are free to extend your session at anytime. Please note that the therapist will not accept cheques, only cash.
You can also pay by bank transfer, however this will have to be done in advance and your session will be fully confirmed once we receive the payment.
You can pay at the beginning or at the end of the massage.

8. What if I need to cancel my appointment ?

Yes, you can cancel your appointment; we do not charge any fees for cancellations if it is done with time in advance.
The only thing that we ask, will be very much appreciated and taken into consideration for your future bookings is to please value the time of our therapists and give us as much notice as possible (Give us at least 2 hours notice, that way the cancellation message will not catch our therapists in the underground travelling to visit you). For late cancelations (made after 2 hours prior session), please kindly read our Cancelation Policy and Fees below.
Remember: Keep it or cancel it. Don't forget it. Missed appointments keep everybody waiting.

CancelLation Policy and Fees:

Cancellations made less than 2 hours from the scheduled session are subject to a cancellation fee of 50%. For bookings where notification was not sent prior to cancellation, will result in the full charge of the scheduled session.

We value your time and ask that you respect the company’s scheduling policies. Your therapeutic treatment is reserved especially for you. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 2 hours prior to the commencement of the session. With daily unpredictabilities, we take into account the situation with reason, flexibility, as well as being efficient and convenient as possible.

This simple and logical step has been implemented with the thought of saving the distance of travel, and the time of the parties involved, as well as to help and provide a better general service.

Many thanks for understanding.

9. I am running late to my session. What should I do ?

We know life can be hectic sometimes. Please kindly let us know as soon as you can so we can let the therapist know, that way we can move your session a bit. Same as booking cancelations, the earliest you let us know, the better, as your therapist will be also traveling.

10. I am about 30 / 20 / 15 minutes early to my Incall appointment. Can I start earlier or wait inside ?

This is a very recurrent question. As our Incall location is not a shop or a spa, our therapists do not remain on the Incall facility waiting for bookings. We are a mobile massage service mainly, so our therapists are constantly travelling and of course, they will travel to the Incall facility too. If your therapist is not inside, unfortunately, nobody will be able to let you in unless there is another therapist there. We do not count on a receptionist as we prefer to keep the atmosphere fully private for you to feel free.

We expect our therapists to arrive 15min early so they can prepare their massage room for you, making it warm, lighting the candles in the whole place, preparing your towels and music so when you arrive, you can feel at home.

If you arrive very early to your sessions, we recommend you to set an earliest booking time. Do not worry if you want to take your time with the shower or relaxing before starting the massage itself. Remember the duration of the massage starts when your therapist touch your body and not when you enter to the Incall location. It is a relaxation time, the most important person there is you. So feel at home and enjoy.

11. Can I eat before a massage ?

Since massages can lower your blood sugar, it’s not a bad idea to have a small snack a half-hour beforehand. Choose foods that are easy on the stomach, like toast with eggs or a yoghurt drink. Too large a meal or hard-to-digest foods can cause uncomfortable gassiness when the therapist presses down on your abdomen.
It’s hard to relax if you’re feeling gassy because that’s all you’re thinking about. Nevertheless, don’t feel embarrassed if some gas does pass. It’s a natural thing that happens occasionally. Plus, the incense and burning candles help, too.
Final caveat: Avoid drinking alcohol before the massage. As a sedative, it can dull the sensation.

during your massage

12. Am I supposed to take off my underwear when I get a massage ? / Can I remain fully naked ?

Many people prefer to keep their panties or briefs on during a massage, while others prefer to be completely nude. It's up to you.
If your problem areas are your lower back, hips or buttocks, tight-fitting underwear can sometimes get in the way of massage work, but a thong for women or briefs for men should do the trick.

You can also remain undraped. However, the therapist will cover your private areas. To remain undraped, would also depend on the massage style performed (ex. Lomi Lomi, Esalen, Soft tissue, Classic relaxing) and of course, on the therapist.

Your therapist will ensure that you are always properly covered by a sheet or towel. Only the area being massaged will be uncovered.

13. I'm self conscious about a certain part of my body and don't want the therapist to see me. What can I do ?

People are self-conscious for various reasons. Some of the more common concerns are:

  •  I'm overweight.

  • I have excessive hair growth on my body.

  • I've got acne on my face or back.

  • My feet are ugly.

  • I have scars, etc, etc.

Being self-conscious should never keep you from seeking health care, whether it's visiting your doctor or seeing
a massage therapist. If you're self-conscious about a certain part of your body, you can ask the massage therapist to avoid that area. Do not feel scared or afraid, the TML team is very caring, friendly and warm.

14. What products will my specialist use ?

Our therapists use only natural massage oils. They use either almond or grape seed oils. Oils are either base (without fragrance) or blended with various aromas. Please, let your therapist now if you have any allergies.

15. The pressure is not deep enough, but I don't want to insult the therapist's technique. What should I do ?

Communicate openly with the massage therapist. Keep in mind however that it's a myth that massage therapy has to hurt to be effective. Some of the most effective types of massage therapy are gentle and do not involve deep pressure or pain. In fact, too much pressure can cause muscles to seize up.
If you still want a deeper massage, just let your therapist know as many times as necessary. Their job is to listen to you and understand you.

16. Can I touch the massage therapist ?

Our massage service is a one-way treatment. You are supposed to stay passive and relaxed. Do not make indecent proposals. Let go and enjoy every touch. You will be totally relaxed.

after your massage

17. Am I supposed to tip my massage therapist ?

A massage can relieve stress and loosen your muscles. You may want to give the person whose fingers chase away life's problems something to show your appreciation. Tipping your massage therapist is usually appropriate or you can always show your appreciation by referring friends, family and co-workers to the massage therapist.

18. How often should I receive a massage ?

The answer here depends on the reasons for receiving the massage. If a client comes for some injury relief, and to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with their daily lives in some way, weekly sessions may be necessary for a while to build on each session's improvement in their relief and healing. For those who use massage as preventive care and managing the daily stress in their lives, once every two weeks is about the norm. They may shorten the time between massages during stressful periods. Some come more often just because they enjoy it that much.
For most people, the frequency of the massages they receive is limited by their pocketbook. It's an unfortunate fact, but once many people realize the benefits it provides them, and the pleasure they receive from it, they find a way to incorporate a regular session into their budget.

19. I am very happy with my session and would like to take it one step further. How could I leave a feedback ?

Your feedback is very important. We love to read your opinions and feel you closer to us. Your feedback will make us and your therapist improve, bring more ideas and will make us all happy.

Please feel free to send us a message to our email or send us a text message through SMS or WhatsApp. Your will find our contact details at the bottom of every page or in our Contact Us section.
