Frequently asked questions (F.A.Q.)
Before your massage
1. I've never had a massage before, what should I choose?
If it’s your first time receiving a massage, a Swedish massage is a perfect introduction. It’s gentle, relaxing, and designed to ease tension without deep pressure. During your booking, our client care team can help guide you through the options and answer any questions you have. All of our massage therapists are professionally trained and experienced in multiple techniques—Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, and more. Depending on your needs and preferences, they can even combine styles during the session to create a personalised, full-body massage experience.
2. Can I request a particular massage therapist?
Absolutely. Massage is a personal and intuitive experience, and feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential. If you’ve had a great session with someone before, or if a specific profile catches your eye, just let us know—we’re happy to accommodate. In case your preferred therapist is unavailable or outside your area, we’ll recommend someone with a similar massage style, personality, or touch so you still receive the experience you’re looking for.
3. How much notice do I need to book an appointment? / How soon can a therapist visit me?
We work quickly—like, “same-day massage in London” quickly. Depending on your location, a mobile massage therapist can often be with you in 30 to 60 minutes (sometimes 90 minutes is necessary). We recommend allowing a bit more time if you’re located beyond Zone 3. Our therapists are based all across London: Central, West, East, North, and South—so there’s usually someone nearby and ready to help you unwind. If you’re planning ahead or need a specific time or therapist, we encourage booking a little in advance to secure your ideal slot.
4. Do you offer sex, sensual massage, tantric, body to body, or any kind of "extras"?
Absolutely not. At Therapeutic Massage in London, we provide professional, therapeutic massage services that are focused on health, well-being, and relaxation. Our highly trained therapists are dedicated to delivering high-quality bodywork and do not offer any sexual or inappropriate services of any kind. We kindly ask all clients to respect the professional boundaries of our therapists. Any disrespectful behavior or inappropriate requests will not be tolerated and may result in being blacklisted from our service. We value integrity, respect, and professionalism in all our treatments—whether it’s a Swedish massage, deep tissue, or any other mobile massage in London or at our incall facility in Central London.
5. Can I speak directly to the therapist before booking or before we meet?
At Therapeutic Massage in London, we prioritise both your comfort and your safety. To maintain a professional and respectful environment, all communication before your appointment is handled by our friendly and efficient booking team, Tatiana and Omar. They will assist you in finding the right therapist for your needs. We maintain close contact with every mobile massage therapist on our team and ensure that all sessions—whether at your home, hotel, or at our private incall studio in Central London—are arranged with care. Your satisfaction, privacy, and well-being are at the heart of everything we do.
6. What information do I need to provide when booking a massage appointment?
To confirm your massage appointment, we’ll need a few key details: your full name, a mobile phone number (or the best contact number), and your complete address with postcode if you’re requesting a mobile massage in London. This helps us locate you quickly and send the therapist who is closest to your area.
Rest assured, all personal information is treated with the utmost care and handled in line with the UK Data Protection Act (1998). Your privacy is a priority, and we only use your information to arrange your session efficiently and securely.
7. How do I pay for my massage session, and when should I do it?
You can pay in cash directly to your therapist at the time of your massage—either before or after your session. We also accept bank transfers under the same conditions: they can be completed after the treatment, just like cash. For those who prefer PayPal, please note that an additional processing fee may apply depending on the transaction amount. Let us know in advance if you’d like to use this option so we can confirm the total.
Our flexible payment options apply whether you’re booking a mobile massage in London or visiting our private incall massage studio in Central London.
8. What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Yes, of course—you can cancel your appointment. We understand that plans change, and unexpected things come up. We don’t charge any cancellation fees if you let us know in advance. All we ask is that you respect our therapists’ time and give us as much notice as possible—at least 2 hours before your scheduled session.
This allows us to inform your therapist in time, especially if they’re already en route via public transport. A last-minute cancellation can leave them stranded and your slot wasted. Let’s all be decent humans 🙏🏼 .
🔸 Cancellation Policy and Fees:
Cancellations made less than 2 hours before the session will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
No-shows or cancellations made at the time of the appointment or just minutes before will be charged the full session fee.
We truly value your time and ask that you respect our scheduling policies in return. Each therapist’s time and energy is reserved exclusively for you. Cancelling in time ensures smooth service for everyone—and helps us stay efficient, fair, and human (even on a Monday). This policy helps reduce unnecessary travel, optimize bookings, and offer you a better overall experience. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
9. I am running late to my session. What should I do?
Life happens, especially with London transport. If you’re running late, please let us know as soon as possible so we can inform your therapist right away. With some notice, we might be able to adjust the session timing or find a solution that works for both you and your therapist.
⚠️ Just remember:
If you arrive late, your session might still need to end at the originally scheduled time, especially if the therapist has other clients afterwards.
While we do our best to be flexible, we can’t always extend appointments, particularly during busy hours.
The sooner you communicate, the more options we have to make things work. It’s all about mutual respect and making sure you still get the best experience possible.
10. I am about 30 / 20 / 15 minutes early to my Incall appointment. Can I start earlier or wait inside?
Our incall massage facility in Central London is a private, appointment-only space designed for relaxation and discretion. As our therapists travel between appointments—including mobile massage sessions across London—they may not always be present at the facility before your scheduled time.
If your therapist is already inside and ready earlier than expected, we will always do our best to accommodate you. However, we kindly ask that you arrive no more than 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment unless previously arranged. As we do not have a receptionist on-site, early arrivals may need to wait until the therapist has completed preparations.
Our therapists aim to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to set the room, light candles, prepare your towels, warm the massage oil, and create a calm, welcoming environment just for you. Once you’re inside, feel free to take a shower and unwind before your session begins. Your massage time will only start once the therapist begins the treatment, not when you enter the space—so you’ll always get the full experience.
11. Can I eat before a massage?
Yes, it’s perfectly fine to eat before your massage—just keep it light and simple. A small, balanced snack 30 to 60 minutes before your session is ideal, especially if you’re receiving a full-body treatment or deep tissue massage. Something gentle on the stomach, like a banana, yoghurt, or toast with eggs, will help maintain your energy and avoid low blood sugar.
Avoid heavy meals or rich foods that may cause discomfort while lying on the massage table, particularly during abdominal or back work. Gas, bloating, or general discomfort can detract from your experience, and we want you to be able to fully relax. It’s also best to skip alcohol before your session. Massage already promotes relaxation, and combining it with alcohol can lower your blood pressure too much or dull your body’s natural signals.
during your massage
12. Am I supposed to take off my underwear when I get a massage? / Can I remain fully naked?
This is entirely up to you and your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to keep their underwear on, while others feel more at ease being fully undressed. The most important thing is that you feel safe, respected, and relaxed.
That said, depending on the nature of the massage style — such as Lomi Lomi, Esalen, soft tissue therapy, or relaxing full-body massage — some therapists may recommend or prefer that you remain fully uncovered in order to perform the long, uninterrupted strokes these techniques require. Even in these cases, your privacy is always protected.
Most of our therapists use a small towel or draping method to cover intimate areas throughout the session. However, it’s worth noting that some therapists feel more comfortable maintaining this coverage at all times, while others, depending on the style and your consent, may work with minimal or no draping.
Ultimately, your comfort is our priority, and we aim to respect both your boundaries and the therapist’s professional comfort as well. If you have specific preferences or concerns, simply let us know before your session begins — we’re here to ensure you feel fully at ease.
13. I'm self-conscious about a certain part of my body and don't want the therapist to see me. What can I do?
You’re not alone — many clients feel self-conscious before a massage. Whether it’s about body weight, scars, body hair, acne, or any other personal concern, we completely understand. Massage is a deeply personal experience, and your comfort is our top priority.
If there’s a particular area you’d prefer not to be touched or exposed, simply let your therapist know before the session begins. They will always respect your boundaries with care and professionalism. At Therapeutic Massage in London, we pride ourselves on creating a non-judgmental, supportive space where everyone can enjoy the benefits of holistic massage, no matter their background or body type.
14. What products will my specialist use?
Our therapists use only high-quality, natural massage oils to ensure a safe and nourishing experience for your skin. The most commonly used oils include Sweet Almond oil, Grapeseed oil, and Coconut oil — all known for their excellent glide, light texture, and skin-loving properties.
Some therapists also offer aromatherapy massage, blending these base oils with pure essential oils such as lavender, rose, eucalyptus, or peppermint, adding both therapeutic and sensory benefits to your session. If you have any allergies or sensitivities, please let your therapist know in advance so they can tailor the experience to suit your needs.
For an enhanced level of comfort and relaxation, many of our therapists warm the oils before applying them — particularly for aromatherapy or relaxation-style massages. Warm oil not only feels soothing on the skin but also helps the muscles loosen more quickly, allowing for a deeper and more effective massage.
15. The pressure is not deep enough, but I don't want to insult the therapist's technique. What should I do?
Please don’t hesitate to speak up — communication is key to getting the most out of your session. All of our therapists genuinely want to hear your feedback during the massage. Adjusting pressure is a normal part of the process, and your comfort is always the top priority.
Whether you prefer a lighter touch or a deeper, more intense massage, your therapist will be happy to adapt the pressure to suit your needs. You can ask for adjustments at any point during the session, and as many times as necessary. It’s not a criticism; it’s collaboration.
And remember: effective massage doesn’t always mean strong pressure. Some of the most therapeutic results come from gentle, targeted techniques, especially for sensitive or tight areas.
16. Can I touch the massage therapist?
No — our massage service is strictly a one-way therapeutic treatment. Your role is to relax and receive, not to engage physically. Touching the therapist without clear, prior consent is considered inappropriate and unacceptable. All of our therapists are professionals who need to remain focused during your session to provide you with the best possible care. Unwanted touching or suggestive behaviour disrupts their concentration and creates an unsafe environment.
Clients who violate these boundaries may be blocked from booking that therapist again or from using our services altogether. We are here to promote healing, not discomfort. Please respect the therapist’s space so they can focus entirely on what really matters: helping you feel better.
after your massage
17. Am I supposed to tip my massage therapist ?
A massage can relieve stress and loosen your muscles. You may want to give the person whose fingers chase away life's problems something to show your appreciation. Tipping your massage therapist is usually appropriate or you can always show your appreciation by referring friends, family and co-workers to the massage therapist.
18. How often should I receive a massage ?
The answer here depends on the reasons for receiving the massage. If a client comes for some injury relief, and to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with their daily lives in some way, weekly sessions may be necessary for a while to build on each session's improvement in their relief and healing. For those who use massage as preventive care and managing the daily stress in their lives, once every two weeks is about the norm. They may shorten the time between massages during stressful periods. Some come more often just because they enjoy it that much.
For most people, the frequency of the massages they receive is limited by their pocketbook. It's an unfortunate fact, but once many people realize the benefits it provides them, and the pleasure they receive from it, they find a way to incorporate a regular session into their budget.
19. I am very happy with my session and would like to take it one step further. How could I leave a feedback ?
Your feedback is very important. We love to read your opinions and feel you closer to us. Your feedback will make us and your therapist improve, bring more ideas and will make us all happy.
